LICENSING CASE STUDIES
#1 - OEM Solution for Qualified Legacy Products / Services Set Aside for Small Business
PROBLEM
A large Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), although a qualified source for overhauling aircraft components, lost significant revenue when the U.S. Government restricted bidders to Small Business. This government practice also increased the supplier base, driving prices so low that the OEM could not compete, even without any restrictions.
SOLUTION
Our strategic licensing agreement proved a win-win-win for the OEM, the customer and Federal Industries. Once we obtained the OEM’s technology through a licensing agreement, all subsequent U.S. Government Small Business solicitations were quoted by Federal Industries.
RESULT
Although OEM product solicitations were set aside for Small Business, our Small Business rating and aggressive pricing prevailed. The OEM now receives substantial royalties, and the licensing agreement has prevented lost revenue for the OEM.

#2 - OEM Solution to Recapture Lost After-Market Share
PROBLEM
An OEM lost its aftermarket share for an F-18 Fuel Control Valve when a low-cost second source replicated the device and underbid them.
SOLUTION
Federal Industries minimized assembly and test time, producing the product at a lower cost than the second source.
RESULT
We prevented further erosion of the OEM’s market share, restoring it to its former level, and the substantial licensing royalties increased the OEM’s bottom line.
